Cameraman, photographer, teacher
Academically, Vladimír Smutný specializes in basic camera work and various photographic approaches. He explores cinematograhpic analysis and lectures on light and tonal composition processes in the cinematographic image.
Vladimir Smutny was born in 1942. He graduated from FAMU Department of Cinematography where he has held a teaching position since 1997. He was appointed an Associate Professor in 2009. Previously he worked for Krátký film Praha or the Barrandov Film Studio. He has collaborated with director Jan Svěrák for many years, and been involved in a number of international projects; so far, he has been awarded 7 Czech Lions for his work.
