Teacher, translator
Ilona Starý Kořánová has been working at FAMU since 2004, teaching Czech language courses for foreign students of film and photography. Graduates of her three-semester study program achieve active level A2 and passive level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages.
She studied English and Czech at Charles University. In 1994 to 2010 she worked primarily in the field of translation and film subtitle provision. She currently works with linguistics, particularly corpus linguistics, and the methodology of teaching Czech as a foreign language. She lectures for the Association of Teachers of Czech as a Foreign Language and is a member of the International Association of Teachers of Czech.
